What to do In Geneva...The Ethnological Museum of Geneva proposes an exhibition on the theme of football. With its rules and techniques, its artists who cover the pitches, its social and symbolic dimensions, football constitutes a world which is both universal and special.
The Maradona-God, the Blatter-Pope or even the Victoria Beckham-Courtesan welcome the visitor to Conches and serve as guides throughout the exhibition. These hybrid characters offer a reflection on football as a mirror which allows the visitor to grasp the different processes at work in today’s world. In effect, far from being impermeable, the world of football presents many facets which allow large areas of our societies to be understood.
Within the framework of EURO2008, the play “Les Onze de Kapzuba” by Eduard Bass, based on a book written in the 1930s, produced by Marcela Salivarova et Jean-Luc Bideau, will be performed at the Théâtre de Saint-Gervais. It is a football fairy-tale, the saga of a team of eleven brothers, an unbeatable team. It deals gently and good humouredly with all the subjects around football: hard physical work, pride, glory, but also solidarity, brotherhood, the pleasure of fair-play.
