Last night in Vienna, Spain became the European champion, 44 years after its last major title. 45,000 people came to share the thrills one last time in the Fan Zone giving Geneva the grand finale it deserves after the amazing month it has experienced for EURO 2008.

Tonight in Vienna, Germany and Spain will be fighting for the throne of European football. The tournament has been 23 days, 2 countries, 8 host cities, 30 matches. Suspense, joy and tears. Come and see the Final of the EURO 2008 in Geneva’s Fan Zone or Fan Village (8.45 pm).

Geneva is looking forward to the Final of "its" EURO 2008, in the Fan Zone in Plainpalais of course, or in the relaxing scenery at Bout-du-Monde. Several thousand people are expected to come and end EURO 2008 with a bang.
After a night of Swiss rock, it is now Giuseppe Verdi’s turn to take over Plainpalais with 150 musicians and chorists brought together for the occasion. An exceptional event that will take place in two parts, at 3 pm and at 8.30 pm.

Tonight, Geneva will become a gigantic open-air stage. In Plainpalais, the rock band Gotthard will be setting fire to the stage at 11.30 pm. But the concerts start at 7.45 pm in the Fan Zone and Fan Village with, to name but a few, Stevans (FZ-8 pm) and Moonraisers (FV-11.30 pm).
Tonight, Russia will be facing Spain for a place in Sunday’s final in Vienna opposite Germany. In the Fan Zone in Plainpalais, this very promising confrontation between playful Russia and talented Spain should attract a large crowd (8.45 pm).

A comfortable patch of grass, a friendly atmosphere and some good music. The Fan Village will be offering you a Sunday in the country only 15 mn from the city centre. For example, you can come and hear the Geneva band Recto Verso (6pm) before the latin teams start battling it out (Italy-Spain, Fan Village and Zone, 8.45).

Tonight, the Fan Zone in Plainpalais will be having its biggest party yet. The quarter final between the Netherlands and Russia should thrill all football fans (8.45). It will be followed by “Beau Lac de Bâle”, a legendary Geneva band that should attract the crowds (10.45).
Tonight it’s already Summer at the Fan Village ! The bitter-sweet reggae of Mosquito will be starting off the festivities (7.45 pm) before the lively Koumba-Tosh and Fifawa Band (10.30) make you dance all night long. Between the concerts, the Turks and Croatians will be battling it out for a place in the semis (8.45).

What a pleasant surprise : the sun has finally come out for the last matches of group D (8.45 pm, Fan Zone). This Summer weather should attract the crowds to the Fan Village for The Sheer (9.30 pm) and Jamie Clarke’s Perfekt, a folk band set up by an ex-member of the legendary Pogues (7.45 pm).

The 4 mini football pitches set up in the heart of the Fan Zone were the setting for some memorable games in which everyone showed excellent team spirit. After a big football evening, Geneva has once again decided to give a new dimension to « its » EURO 2008. Tonight, a rock evening has been organised in the Fan Village with Stilltone (8.45) and Verdena (9.30) while the Fan Zone watches Austria and Germany fight for a place in the quarter finals (8.45).
Only two hours before the kick-off of the group A matches (8.45), the Fan Zone looks like the crossroads of European football. Thanks to the two giant screens, the Swiss, Portuguese, Czech and Turkish supporters have been brought together in an amazing atmosphere.

Petit-Saconnex's brass band will be playing great classics and more unusual pieces to liven up lunchtime in the Fan Zone. Then, at 2 pm, some of the best dancers in Switzerland will be giving a demonstration of Tektonik.
Around 55 000 supporters visited the Fan Zone in Plainpalais yesterday, 35 000 at one point of the evening. To make the Fan Village more appealing to families, a bouncy castle was put up last night.

Tonight the programme at the Fan Village is reminiscent of some of the best music festivals. First the rockers from Fribourg, the Lundegaards (5.30 pm) followed by Junior Tshaka (7.45 pm) will be warming up the stage for Jah Man Gang (10.30 pm), one of the biggest names in Swiss reggae, who will light up the night!
A whole series of events will be kicking off the weekend tonight! What a night in Plainpalais ! In a wild but friendly atmosphere, the Fan Zone managed to beat all records tonight (we don’t have the exact figures yet) for the retransmission of the Portugal – Turkey game. With an amazing score of 2-0, the Portuguese team gave their many fans in Plainpalais an excellent reason to celebrate.

Despite the bad weather, 15,000 people came to hear Yannick Noah sing, brightening up the Fan Zone. Dancing around in bare feet, Yannick Noah put all his energy into warming up the audience’s bodies and hearts. Organised in a very friendly spirit, the event got off to a wonderful start.

Here we are. The party is on track! Friday evening, the sun will shine on the three knocks of the festivities. The caribbean group Kassav will first inflame the Fan Village with its furious zouk (8pm) while the Fan Zone is going to dance for the first time thanks the generosity of Yannick Noah (10.30pm).
About eight hundred persons went volunteers on thursday evening to discover the three party areas of Geneva during the EURO 2008. This happy crowd moved from the Fan Zone Plainpalais to the Fan Village at the Bout-du-monde. And finished its trip at the Fan Club 08 at the Vernets.
The french national team landed wednesday evening at the Geneva Airport. Welcomed by the State Councillor Mark Muller, the finalist of the last World Cup joined then by bus their hotel at the Mont-Pèlerin, near Vevey.
The State Council of Geneva will make eighteen more happy schoolboys! 18 tickets for the game in Geneva on Saturday 7 June Portugal-Turkey will be given to a group of pupils from the local priority teaching programme.
State Councillors Mark Muller (DCTI) and Charles Beer (DIP) will personally hand the tickets to the happy few on Friday afternoon at the Palettes school (3.30 pm).
The winners of the draw for 100 tickets to see a EURO 2008 march at the Geneva Stadium have been announced! Discover their names by clicking on the link below. The tickets will be presented to the lucky winners on 2nd June at 18h30 in the courtyard of the City Hall.

La première conférence dédiée à l'accueil des supporters de l'UEFA EURO 2008™ s'est déroulée le 10 décembre 2007 au Stade de Genève. Les programmes nationaux suisse et autrichiens y ont été présentés à plus de cent participants.

Le tirage au sort des équipes disputant l'UEFA EURO 2008™ a eu lieu le 2 décembre 2007 à midi à Lucerne. On connaît à présent les trois matches qui auront lieu à Genève: Portugal-Turquie le 7 juin, République tchèque-Portugal le 11 juin et Turquie-République tchèque le 15 juin 2008.

Genève, en tant que site d'accueil de l'EURO 2008 et hôte du CICR, salue le partenariat entre l'UEFA et le CICR annoncé mercredi 14 novembre 2007 par leurs présidents respectifs Michel Platini et Jakob Kellenberger.
L'UEFA a choisi le Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) comme organisation humanitaire partenaire officielle pour l'UEFA EURO 2008. Une campagne de collecte de fonds en ligne permettra aux internautes d'acheter des buts pour leur équipe préférée afin de l'aider à gagner le titre d'équipe la plus caritative de l'EURO 2008. De plus, l'UEFA s'engage à verser au CICR 4000 euros par but marqué durant le tour final (du 7 au 29 juin 2008). L'argent récolté servira à améliorer la vie des victimes de mines en Afghanistan en leur fournissant des membres artificiels et des services de physiothérapie.
Le Conseiller d'Etat Mark Muller a accueilli Michel Platini pour une visite du stade de Genève le 4 octobre 2007. Verdict du président de l'UEFA: «La Praille est un bon stade, mais il manque un peu de couleur».
La Charte de développement durable UEFA EURO 2008™ a été présentée à Vienne
par les ministres de l'environnement suisse et autrichien le 25 juin 2007.
