Advice to the fans

The Geneva cantonal police will be present to ensure the security of the teams, the tens of thousands of fans and the whole of the population, so that Euro 2008 will be a magnificent festival of sport and friendliness.
For over two years the cantonal police have been preparing to manage an event of such importance. All breaks and holidays for the entire force have been suppressed for the duration of Euro 2008. Reinforcements, both Swiss and French can be rapidly on the ground if the situation calls for it. Foreign police officers will accompany the fans of the different teams who will be playing in Geneva.
All types of measures of control and prohibitions have been taken to avoid excesses and violence so that the festival will be beautiful and peaceful.
Hereafter you will find recommendations match by match :

The Geneva State Council (government) have made a decree, Eurolex PDF ,setting out the laws in force during Euro 2008 and on match nights in particular. It would be a good idea to consult this as certain of the measures taken in the general interest, such as, for example, the recommendation not to take glass recipients onto the terraces, are somewhat unusual.

During the run of Euro, it goes without saying that the whole of the usual services to the population will be maintained.
It is recommended that you have yourself vaccinated against the measles if you have not already been and if you have never had the illness.
