To say that Geneva's population is cosmopolitan is an understatement : over 150 States from all over the planet are represented. The 400 000 residents of the canton are made up of roughly a third each of Geneva citizens, Swiss from other cantons and foreigners, of which 80 % are European.
Each year, nearly a million people come to visit Geneva, attracted by its charm and to attend the numerous conferences and exhibitions of world renown. From Europe, America and Asia, the tourists like to stroll in the Old Town, visit the Palais des Nations, enjoy the museums or attend the events held in Palexpo. Some like the breeze of the lakeside quays, others prefer the fresh air of the green and cool surroundings of the city.
