Boulevard de la Cluse: closed to traffic during the Jeûne genevois

Work will take place during the week of the Jeûne genevois on Boulevard de la Cluse, requiring closure to all traffic. The work is being carried out to install a new sound-absorbent surface on the road in order to reduce road noise along this thoroughfare which is home to numerous residential and hospital buildings.

Work along Boulevard de la Cluse will take place in two phases from 6 to 10 September. Additional work is also scheduled in Rue Jean-Violette and Rue Louise De-Frotté (new name of the upper section of Boulevard de la Cluse) from 29 August.

Accordingly, the full schedule involves work from 29 August to 11 September, and more particularly:

29 to 31 August: Rue Louise De-Frotté, traffic maintained

1 to 3 September: Rue Jean-Violette – Prévost-Martin section > Boulevard de la Cluse closed to traffic

6 and 7 September: Boulevard de la Cluse – Aubépine section > Capo-d’Istria closed to traffic

8 and 9 September: Rue Louise De-Frotté, closed to traffic

8 to 10 September: Boulevard de la Cluse – Jean-Violette section > Aubépine closed to traffic

11 September: Reserve day

Detours via Avenue de la Roseraie

The work will be carried our in stages on sections closed to all traffic (including individual and collective transport, deliveries and emergency and maintenance services).

The pavements will remain open and all pedestrian access to the hospital buildings, residential buildings and shops will be maintained.

Motorised individual transports will primarily be required to take a detour via Avenue de la Roseraie. The streets perpendicular to Boulevard de la Cluse will be accessed via a cul-de-sac from Rue Prévost-Martin.

From 8 to 10 September, motorised access to maternity, the paediatrics clinic and the ophthalmology clinic, including emergencies and ambulances will only take place via Avenue de la Roseraie. Line 35 of the Geneva public transport service will take a detour during these dates and the “Maternité-Pédiatrie” stop will be out of service. Information is available on the website www.tpg.ch

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid this sector during the entire duration of the works and to use other routes.

Reducing road noise

The aim of the work is to renew the surface of Boulevard de la Cluse, which is subject to considerable use. The replacement of the current surface by a new sound-absorbent surface will help reduce noise road along this thoroughfare. Like numerous other highways where this type of surface has been installed in recent years, this work will contribute to ensuring a better quality of life in the city and greater peace and quiet for residents.

The City of Geneva would like to thank the residents and general public in advance for their patience while this work is being carried out.
