Catastrophe in Beirut: the City of Geneva grants emergency aid of 40,000 francs

The Administrative Council of the City of Geneva wishes to express its profound sadness following the explosion which devastated part of the city, leaving numerous victims. It has decided to offer its support by granting emergency aid totalling 40,000 francs.

This support is allocated as follows: 20,000 francs paid to la Chaîne du Bonheur and its “Urgence Liban” campaign and 20,000 francs paid to the Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF), of which the City of Geneva is a member of the Bureau, for its emergency fund dedicated to the City of Beirut, with one priority being the provision of aid for the city’s hospitals.

Furthermore, a letter of condolence has been sent by Sami Kanaan, Mayor of Geneva, to the authorities of the City of Beirut, expressing the deepest sympathy for the inhabitants of this city which has suffered such a terrible fate.
