The City of Geneva is organising a collective secular ceremony from 4.30 p.m. on Saturday 5 November 2022 at the Saint-Georges funeral centre. This moment of contemplation is in particular dedicated to the families who lost a loved one between 1 September 2021 and 30 September 2022 And, more broadly speaking, to anyone who wishes to pay tribute to someone who has died. Prior registration is required.
In order to offer a little comfort to all those who have lost a loved one, the City of Geneva is organising a remembrance ceremony at the Saint-Georges funeral centre at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday 5 November 2022.
The families of the deceased who have already been assisted by the Undertakers, Cemeteries and Crematorium Service, between 1 September 2021 and 30 September 2022, have been invited to the ceremony by letter. The Ceremony of Remembrance is open to anyone who wants to pay their respects to someone they have lost.
Organised in partnership with the Association des célébrant-e-s et officiant-e-s romand-e-s (ACOR), the ceremony is a chance to pay a final tribute to the deceased, to celebrate their memory and to find a certain degree of solace by sharing a moment of collective remembrance.
Following a word of welcome from Executive Councillor Christina Kitsos, the secular celebration will be held with the tributes to the deceased accompanied by music.
The ceremony will be concluded by a procession, led by a hearse, to the Garden of Remembrance in the Saint-Georges cemetery. At the end of the remembrance ceremony, the participants will be invited to share a “glass of friendship”.
