Christmas market in the Jardin Anglais

For the second year in a row, the Jardin Anglais is being transformed into a fairytale world to host the now traditional Christmas market from 17 November to 24 December 2022.

Located in the heart of Geneva, Christmas in the Garden promises a unique atmosphere tinged with emotion and joy for all ages.

Ms Barbey-Chappuis, Mayor of Geneva, is pleased to be able to announce this event: “The City of Geneva is delighted to once again enable the organisation of this magnificent event, which contributes to the vibrancy of the centre during the end of year festivities”.

New must-see attractions

Alongside the artisans’ chalets, musicians and artists have been invited to enliven the village. This year, an inaugural concert given by four talented musicians from the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will take place at 6 pm on Thursday 17 November. A parade of Tchaikovsky’s nutcrackers, acrobatic stilt walkers, a show featuring large marionettes and creative workshops for children (music, storytelling, crafts and embroidery) will be among the attractions on offer.

Numerous other activities such as mini hockey matches featuring top players from the Geneva Servette Hockey Club will take place in the garden during the five festive weeks.

Localism and environmental respect

Thanks to valuable support provided by Genève Terroir, the best suppliers from the Geneva region have been selected. On hand will be no fewer than 47 artisan restaurateurs from Geneva and 39 from other regions.

As energy saving is high on everyone’s agenda, the signs will be switched off at night. It’s worth noting that all the illuminations are LED, so their impact on consumption is minimal.

As waste reduction is a principal concern of the City of Geneva, cold beverages will be served in returnable, reusable cups (Fr 2.-), and hot drinks in returnable recyclable cardboard cups (Fr. 0.50).
