Coronavirus: the City of Geneva takes measures to protect senior citizens

The City of Geneva has adopted a series of measures designed to protect the health of people aged 65 and over, a group that is particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus epidemic.

Fermeture de Cité Seniors

Among the measures taken, the City of Geneva has decided to close, until further notice, Cité Seniors, the training, information and meeting centre dedicated to senior citizens.

The cultural and sporting events and activities intended specifically for senior citizens organised by the City have also been cancelled. In particular, this concerns the Cinéma des Aînés films scheduled to be screened at the Auditorium Arditi by les Cinémas du Grütli, as well as the cultural mediation activities (visits, workshops, etc.) organised in the municipal libraries and museums and intended for senior citizens. The sports lessons organised for senior citizens by the sports service have also been suspended until further notice

For more information concerning the precautions to be taken and any developments to the situation, a page dedicated to the coronavirus relaying the recommendations of the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP) and the Canton is available for consultation on geneve.ch. The list of events and activities that have been cancelled or postponed is also updated on the official website on a regular basis.
