This unique new free phone line marks tangible progress towards implementing the recommendations of the report on emergency shelter commissioned from UNIGE by the City of Geneva.

Making admissions easier

The number 0800 22 22 10 is available from Monday to Friday, from 8:45am to 12pm and from 12:30pm to 5pm. It's mainly intended for homeless people, but also for professionals working in the health and welfare sector in Geneva.

Born as a pilote project, Geneva Municipality has decided to make it a long-term service, to avoid people stop from having to wander from one place to the next.

The hotline was launched beginning of Novembe 2021 in collaboration with the y CausE and Passage de l’Armée du Salut with the aim of centralizing the requests, thanks to the coordination between various institutions and associations.

“This new arrangement will very tangibly improve the situation for people looking for a roof for the night and comes in response to long-standing requests from association partners. It also helps deal with the phenomenon of non-uptake by people entitled to social and financial benefits,” says Administrative Councillor Christina Kitsos.

The pilot project forms part of the City’s current policy of strengthening the partnership with associations helping the homeless.
