Federal votes of 13 June: the City joins forces with the Comité Unitaire Genevois in supporting the federal law on CO2

On 13 June 2021, Swiss voters will be asked to make a decision on three federal issues of the utmost importance to our City with regard to combating global warming.

The fruit of a broad consensus between the political parties, the environmental associations and the employers’ umbrella organisations, the federal law on CO2 will enable the towns a d cities to establish their climate policy. That is why the City of Geneva calls on its citizens to vote YES to the federal law on CO2 and joins forces with the Comité Unitaire Genevois which supports it.

Climate strategy

The legal federal basis, which could be adopted in June, would help support the City’s actions with regard to combating global warming. Against this backdrop, a climate strategy founded on the strategic objectives and thrusts of the Cantonal Climate Plan will be presented at the end of the year. Furthermore, the Municipality has just adopted a series of tangible measures to be implemented with a view to reducing its carbon footprint, fostering biodiversity and accompanying changes in practices.
