The Fête des écoles is back

All primary school pupils are raring to go. Just a few more days to wait before… the Fête des écoles heralds in the holidays. For thousands of schoolchildren, it’s the best day of the year. View the programme!

With the past two editions cancelled then organised in a revised format due to the pandemic, the fête des écoles is making a comeback in 2022! More attractive and more fun than ever! On the morning of Wednesday 29 June, the pupils of classes 1P and 2P will be able to enjoy the shows and fairground rides in Parc des Bastions from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. And the afternoon will see the traditional parade for classes 3P and 4P, led by the officials and teaching staff.

Welcome to world of the sea! This theme has been adopted once again. Multicoloured fish, deckhands in striped tops and fishermen will all be on hand in les Bastions on Wednesday 29 June.

Wednesday 29 June: a celebration in two parts

The celebration on Wednesday will be divided into two parts to allow the children to make the most of the event by limiting the number of people waiting to enjoy the rides and other entertainment in les Bastions.

During the morning of 29 June, the 3,300 pupils of classes 1P and 2P will go directly to Parc des Bastions by public transport at 9 a.m., accompanied by their teachers.

They will be welcomed by the authorities and will enjoy all the rides and entertainment until 11.30 a.m., when they will return to their schools.

In the afternoon, the pupils of classes 3P and 4P will parade through the city. They will leave at 2.30 p.m. precisely from the Promenade Saint-Antoine. Then it will be time for the entertainment! To quench the participants’ thirst, drinking fountains will be installed in the park thanks to a partnership with the Services industriels de Genève (SIG). At 5.30 p.m., the rides will stop and parents will be able to pick up their children.

Please ensure that the children are wearing suitable clothing. If in doubt about the weather, parents are invited to ring 1600 from midday.

The celebration on Wednesday afternoon will be broadcast live on Léman bleu and shown on a big screen installed at the entrance to Parc des Bastions.

Friday 1 July: from 5 p.m. in les Bastions

For the older pupils in classes 5P to 8P, the celebration will be held on Friday 1 July. The pupils, together with their families and friends, are invited to Parc des Bastions from 5 p.m.
The programme will include free attractions, games and shows for everyone present, on the theme of the sea. At 9.45 p.m., don’t miss the highlight of the celebration, the stunning light and sound show in front of the Palais Eynard!
