Organised by the Youth Service in collaboration with the associations active in the field, this outstanding event encourages girls and women to join the burgeoning skateboarding community.

So why not come along and be part of the “Girls session” at the Plainpalais skate park on 12 September? In collaboration with the association GVASK8 and Swiss girls skate, the Youth Service will organise a major skateboarding event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. In the morning, take part in an introduction to skateboarding run by young sportswomen before attending the competition in the afternoon.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Youth Service and the associations, more and more girls are honing their skateboarding skills in Plainpalais, where special girls’ events are organised on a regular basis.

Girls’ competition takes pride of place

At 3 p.m., don’t miss the girls’ contest, the high point of the event, which will see experienced skateboarders fight it out for the title. The event will conclude with a presentation of the prizes to the winners including a full year’s sponsoring offered by a flagship store in this discipline. It is almost the first time such a prize has been awarded for a girls’ contest!

The detailed programme can be seen below:

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Mixed introduction organised by girl skateboarders
  • 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Girls’ competition
  • 6.30 p.m.: Awards ceremony

“Girls session” aims to present skateboarding to a broader public and to encourage new talents. By promoting the presence of girls in urban sports and public areas, the event is entirely in line with some of the major concerns of the present day.

So come along and applaud the energy and talent of these young sportswomen!

The event will be postponed until 26 September in the event of rain.
