Health information surgery: meeting the inhabitants

You can call in at the health information surgeries at Cité Seniors and the Plainpalais community centre without needing to make an appointment. These surgeries offer inhabitants the possibility of obtaining free advice from a healthcare professional as well as the chance to have simple medical tests carried out.

The Social Service organises health information surgeries at Cité Seniors and the Plainpalais community centre at specific times.

Opening times in the coming months

Health information surgery - Rue des Minoteries 3 (ground floor): three times per week, from 17 January to 3 July:

every Monday from midday to 3 p.m.
every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to midday
every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be no surgery from 14 to 17 April.

Cité Seniors - Rue de Lausanne 62

Once a month on Tuesdays from February to June, 1.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the following dates: 4 February, 3 March, 7 April, 5 May and 2 June 2020

These surgeries will continue to function throughout the year at Cité Seniors.

A place to talk and be heard

A nurse is on-hand for an interview or to provide advice and carry out simple medical tests – in particular with regard to cardio-vascular risks – such as measuring blood pressure, screening for diabetes, etc. If a medical consultation is required, more specific guidance will be provided. Visitors to Cité Seniors can easily drop into the health information surgery while participating in one of the activities on the half-yearly programme.

The health information surgeries reach out to the inhabitants in order to address a broader public, in particular people who make little use of the existing healthcare system in Geneva. In doing so, they are in line with the local social outreach policy developed by the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity.
