The “Semaine du Goût”, to be held from 17 to 27 September 2020, is intended to foster sustainable development and encourage restaurant owners based in Geneva to promote local culinary heritage. Registration for the competition closes on 31 May.
Calling all chefs in bistros and restaurants around Geneva: the 2020 competition is open for business (registration closes on 31 May)! The catering trade is currently facing a particularly difficult period. It is important, perhaps now more than ever, to enhance its visibility and draw attention to the efforts it makes to serve up delicious, high-quality fare.
The Semaine du Goût is one such opportunity to promote locally-sourced, eco-friendly food subject to improved traceability.
Local sourcing and traceability of products
The local sourcing and the traceability of products are, naturally, essential aspects of this competition. However, in order to foster a broader vision of sustainable food, the City of Geneva is keen to strengthen the quality aspect of the ingredients used in the dishes prepared, focusing in particular on traditional production, food diversity and organic production methods. All the details of these criteria can be found on the registration form and in the competition regulations, available for download here: www.semainedugout-ge.ch
With several prizes on offer, the competition offers an excellent opportunity to enhance the visibility of the profession! A new development this year sees the inauguration of a special “vegetarian cuisine” award.
This event is organised by the State and the City of Geneva, in collaboration with the Semaine du Goût, the Office de Promotion des Produits Agricoles de Genève (OPAGE) and the Société des Cafetiers, Restaurateurs et Hôteliers de Genève. The 2020 edition will be held from 17 to 27 September.
