Places to chill out on Quai des Bergues

Throughout the summer, chairs and parasols will be installed on Quai des Bergues. Located along the banks of the Rhone, these areas offer the chance to take full advantage of the quayside, which has once again become a pedestrian only area.

Five areas with chairs and parasols will be made available to residents, passers-by and tourists between 10.30 a.m. and 8 p.m., every day throughout the summer. People making use of these broad and comfortable metal chairs can place them however they want along the river bank. The chairs and parasols are folded away and stored every evening and brought out again the next morning.

Quayside reserved for pedestrians

To ensure that the public can enjoy these areas to the full, the quayside is reserved for pedestrians, except for deliveries made before 10.30 a.m. and the tourist train. The parking spaces have been eliminated.

A signposted detour has been introduced for cyclists in both directions, via rue des Étuves and rue Kléberg. The City is delighted to provide additional relaxation areas for the local population in the city centre, and is counting on its citizens to behave in a civic-minded way with regard to the equipment made available.

Quality of life in the city

Quai des Bergues was previously open to motorised traffic along its entire length. The new organisation has provided an opportunity to bring it more into tune with soft mobility solutions. This sensitive and scalable summer arrangement reflects the desire to enhance the quality of life in the city by creating convivial public areas.
