Pont de la Machine: a new venue devoted to wines and beers from Geneva

Following a call for projects launched by the City of Geneva, a new venue showcasing Geneva’s wines and beers has been created on the Pont de la Machine. This finds the city promoting and supporting local viticulture – a place where the people of Geneva can discover the products in the company of the craftsmen and women who produce them.

On Friday, 29 July (between 5 and 11 pm), a new venue devoted to the discovery of Geneva’s wines and beers is opening on the Pont de la Machine bridge. It comes in response to a call for projects launched by the city to promote and support local winegrowing and brewing.

“Winegrowers have suffered a great deal from the weather in recent years, not helped by the Covid lockdowns; we wanted to offer them an additional showcase for their products,” says the Mayor of Geneva, Marie Barbey-Chappuis.

She added: “The opening of this venue is in line with our desire to promote markets that encourage localism – after all, this contributes to the city’s vibrancy.”

Artisans present their products

The venue is managed by NEPSA, which offers visitors the opportunity to discover two Geneva winegrowers and one brewer each evening it’s open.

Chasselas and Gamay grape varietals and pilsner-style beers will, naturally enough, take pride of place. However, the producers have been asked to present all their specialities and to make themselves available to visitors for PR and one-to-one conversations.

Opening dates and hours

The venue will be open from 5 to 11 pm :

  • 29 July ;
  • 5, 12 and 26 August
  • 30 September 2022.

The first evening, Friday 29 July, finds the venue welcoming the Stéphane Dupraz (Soral) estates and the Clos de la Donzelle (Dardagny) as well as the famous Père Jackob brewery!
