The Department of Youth Services has actively supported Primart – an event offering young artists aged 15 to 25 the opportunity to present their creations in a recognised public space – for more than ten years.
The artists involved are supervised by social outreach workers who ensure coordination between the young people and the exhibition space.
Having previously been held in a number of different venues in the City of Geneva, the 2023 edition will be hosted for the first time by Cité Seniors, from 2 to 25 February 2023.
Exhibition in the dark
Close on 30 artists (paintings, drawings, photography, jewellery,…) will show their works in the dark, illuminated by the light of a torch. The exhibition, which is free of charge, can be visited in the dark on Thursdays and Fridays between 5.30 and 8 pm and on Saturdays between 2 and 8 pm. It is also accessible (not “in the dark”) during the opening hours of Cité Seniors.
The event is jointly organised by the Department of Youth Services and the Waves collective. The works are for sale: part of the proceeds will go to the Afghanistan’s Woman Rights Association (AWRA), which promotes women’s rights in Afghanistan.
The preview, open to all, is at 6 pm on 2 February.
