The Promotions Citoyennes 2020 will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday 18 February at the Théâtre du Léman. More than 600 young people of all nationalities who are resident in the Canton of Geneva and will reach adulthood this year will be addressed by the authorities and insiders on the issue of civic involvement. Testimonies from celebrities and a surprise show will also be on the programme.
Every year since 2001, the Youth Service has organised the Promotions Citoyennes, bringing together the young residents of some forty municipalities. The event offers an opportunity to promote civic involvement as well as making these new citizens aware of their rights and obligations.
The 2020 event will begin with the official part attended by Esther Alder, Administrative Councillor responsible for social cohesion and solidarity, and Antonio Hodgers, President of the State Council.
Testimonies from Jacques Dubochet and Océane Dayer
After the official part, the public will hear testimonies from Jacques Dubochet, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and Océane Dayer, Founder of Swiss Youth for Climate, on the issue of commitment with regard to our climate. The testimonies of these guests follow those of the numerous celebrities who have already related their life during previous editions of the Promotions Citoyennes, ranging from Stéphane Hessel to Zep.
During the interlude, the public will have the chance to discover tangible examples of citizen involvement, in particular at the stands organised by Parlement des jeunes, Ciné Civic, A nous de jouer and the association Les Monos.ch.
This will be followed by the recreational part of the evening, including a surprise show!
If you wish to participate, don’t forget to register with the Youth Service. The contact details are shown below. Reaching adulthood is also a celebration. So don’t miss the evening of 18 February!
