Saint-Jean – Charmilles action plan: three key objectives

The Saint-Jean – Charmilles action plan pursues the approach introduced with the publication of the neighbourhood social portrait and the discussions held during the social forum, held on 24 September 2019 with the district’s inhabitants. This plan proposes 13 tangible actions drawn directly from the forum. This collective commitment marks a key stage in implementing the local social outreach policy.

The action plan is a key document in the local social outreach Policy, deployed in the different districts by the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity. This roadmap is developed on the basis of the issues identified in the social portrait and the discussions resulting from the district social forum. This living document will be updated on a regular basis in order to incorporate the complementary initiatives of different partners.

Tangible objectives and actions

On 24 September, the Saint-Jean – Charmilles district social forum brought together numerous participants, including several associative and institutional stakeholders. At the end of the participatory workshops, 13 actions were adopted by the inhabitants, associations and professionals, focusing on 3 objectives which are of relevance to the population as a whole:

  • Objective 1: For young people: premises and mechanisms promoting inclusion;
  • Objective 2: For senior citizens: tangible accompaniment and socialisation measures;
  • Objective 3: For families and the population as a whole: enhanced social information and meeting places.

This action plan highlights the desire to support projects and actions which contribute to social cohesion.

For young people

These actions primarily involve creating places where young people can talk and be heard and organising activities based on the needs expressed by these young people. The partnership with Point jeune, la Boîte à boulots and the other youth associations will be strengthened.

For senior citizens

The aim is to create a senior citizens’ platform with all the partners in the district, strengthen collaborations with the IMAD and accompany senior citizens in using a social information app.

For families and the population as a whole

The discussions identified a need to create parent-child meeting places and to develop projects in this field. The re-issue of the Saint-Jean – Charmilles – Europe district activities programme was called for along with an improvement in the social information service.

A summary chart, including indicators and a time frame, is published in the appendix to the action plan, available for download below.
