Sécheron community centre: 10 years already!

Home to a nursery, a school canteen and a games library, the Sécheron community centre will celebrate its 10th anniversary on 24 June 2022. From 4 p.m. onwards, local residents will be able to enjoy a festive programme including entertainment for children, organised in collaboration with the ludothèque, music groups and numerous partners.

Are you a resident of Sécheron? Then you will be most welcome to attend the event to be held from 4 p.m. on 24 June to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sécheron community centre. LThe local population is also invited to share a birthday cake.

Programme highlights

4 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Parade through the neighbourhood with the group “Red de Tamboreras”;
4 p.m. - 6.30 p.m.: Greetings and games at the ludothèque in the Sécheron community centre;
4.15 p.m. - 6.30 p.m.: DIY and gardening workshops for the children;
4.35 p.m. - 5.15 p.m.: Birthday cake and afternoon snack;
5.15 p.m. - 5.45 p.m.: Official part with Christina Kitsos, Executive Councillor;
5 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Balloon entertainment for children;
5.45 p.m. - 6.30 p.m.: Dancing and music with the groups Keu-Keu and Yanequén;
6.15 p.m. - 8 p.m.: Aperitif;
6.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.: Excerpt from the “On rêve!” festival by Scène Active;
6.30 p.m. - 8.30 p.m.: Concerts by the group Folkaboum and the music groups accompanied by the Youth Service.

Retrospective exhibition

Throughout the event, the public is invited to discover a retrospective exhibition in the hall, taking a look back at the life of the Sécheron community centre through photos, texts and videos. The participants will be able to leave a few words in the guest book. An ideas box and an ideas wall for the future of the Sécheron community centre will also be provided. And finally, the different associations and institutions in the neighbourhood will run the stands.

Behind its coloured façade, the Sécheron community centre with its wide range of equipment, brings different generations together. This dynamic is also largely the result of the activity programmes organised by and for local residents following calls for projects issued every three years by the Social Service. Over the past 10 years, the Sécheron community centre has therefore made a major contribution to fostering social cohesion in a neighbourhood with strong traditions.
