The campaign focussing on feet, “paws”, “plates of meat” or “shanks’ pony” will be displayed once again around town to encourage the local population to walk.
Geneva is a compact city where parks, the city centre and the lake shore are within easy reach in just a quarter of an hour. For longer journeys, your feet can join forces with all the other means of transport.
Walking
In Geneva, most tourist sites and activities can be reached from the city centre in less than 15 minutes on foot. The “Genève une ville en marche” (PDF) map indicates the times required to walk between the different districts.
These walking routes offer inhabitants and visitors to Geneva the chance to discover the city’s rich architectural, historical and botanical heritage.
Through this campaign, the City of Geneva wants to encourage people to take a walk, facilitate pedestrian flows, promote neighbourhoods and sites and moderate traffic in the different districts. Walking is a simple means of getting around and has a positive impact on health and the environment.
This campaign is also in line with the climate strategy implemented by the City of Geneva.
