The next Sunday Concert welcomes Eklekto and the Ensemble Contrechamps to perform one of the major contemporary works behind closed doors.
“Music for 18 Musicians”, a work composed in 1976 by Steve Reich, is a fully-fledged manifesto! Adored as much by fans of electronic music as by classical music lovers, this piece by the cult composer – a spearhead of minimalist aesthetics – has not aged a day. Great specialists of instrumental music of the 20th and 21st centuries, the musicians of Eklekto – a Geneva-based contemporary percussion group – and the Ensemble Contrechamps are preparing to serve up a powerful rendition of this flagship piece in the prestigious setting of the Victoria Hall.
Striking a minor chord and disrupting our lives, however, is the coronavirus with the federal and cantonal health measures preventing the Victoria Hall from opening its doors to the public. The Victoria Hall will nevertheless bring an original concert into your very homes via live streaming!
Opportunities to hear “Music for 18 Musicians” in concert are few and far between and should be enjoyed without moderation! Discover this Sunday Concert, filmed by Léman Bleu and broadcast at 5 p.m. on Sunday 24 January on the Victoria Hall website.
