For its 16th edition, the marathon will be held across the entire month of May so that everyone can set themselves a goal and take part in the competition, individually and in complete safety.
The format of this year’s Harmony Geneva Marathon for Unicef will be adapted to take account of the uncertainties linked to the current health situation. For this 16th edition, each event will be held on every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in May within the time slots proposed by the organisers and in accordance with the health rules in force on the day of the event.
6 events on offer
This year, the runners and walkers will be able to take part in one or more of the six events organised:
- 10-km race,
- 10-km walk,
- 10-km Nordic walk
- 5-km La Genevoise #LikeAGirl by Always, which will also be open to men this year.
All the challenges are open to wheelchair athletes.
To avoid closing any roads, new courses have been devised allowing participants to run or walk along the quays in complete safety while enjoying an uninterrupted view of the stunning Jet d’Eau.
The events will start in the Jardin Anglais, from 6 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and from 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The last finishing times will be at 8 p.m. in the same location on all 4 days.
Individual challenge and real race
This modified edition will offer participants the opportunity to take up the challenge individually while benefiting from all the aspects of a genuine race, i.e.:
- A competitor’s pack including a personalised bib number, a Compressport technical T-shirt, a finisher’s certificate and medal, various goodies from our partners and participation in a tombola with the chance to win numerous prizes including watches from a famous Swiss watchmaker.
- A sporting experience including officially measured courses, a timing service, rankings and prizes for scratch runners and for each category, the download of the gpx route, pre- and post-race information and tips and the possibility of registering for a team challenge.
