This fun, winter facility welcomes the public on Quai Gustave-Ador from 17 January to 31 March 2024. Sports and well-being activities are organised here throughout the winter.

La Banquise is a fun winter sports area located on the Eaux-Vives merchant shipping wharf, close to the pier leading to the Jet d’eau, open from 17 January to 31 March 2024.

La Banquise is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

    Three separate zones

    At La Banquise, three separate zones are in place:

    • a sports zone, to discover Nordic sports;
    • a well-being zone, with saunas;
    • a refreshments area.

    The well-being zone at La Banquise includes:

    • Three wood-fired saunas,
    • a relaxation yurt,
    • showers using water from the lake,
    • changing cubicles with lockers.

    Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    La Banquise

    Saunas

    Three identical wood-fired saunas, each have a capacity of 4 people.

    • Reservations: you can reserve a single place or privatise one or both saunas by reserving all the places available. Online reservations: see below.
    • How to participate: users of the sauna must wear a bathing costume or adopt the Nordic principle of nudity (covered by a bath towel).
    • Prices: the price of admission to the sauna is CHF 10 per person and includes access to the well-being zone for 60 minutes.

    Relaxation yurt

    A heated traditional Mongolian yurt heated is intended for rest and relaxation purposes.

    • Prices: Access to the relaxation yurt is included in your 60-minute sauna session.
    • How to participate: you are advised to rest for the same amount of time as you spend in the sauna (between 6 and 15 minutes, renewable) to allow your body temperature to cool down.
    Lancer de hache à la banquise

    Visitors can discover the sport of axe throwing free of charge during a 5-10-minute session, depending on the number of people and the waiting time, or try their hand at mattcurling.

    • Friday: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Sunday: 1 a.m. to 7 p.m.
    La buvette de la banquise

    Food and drink

    A food truck in keeping with the atmosphere serves hot food and drinks to warm you up. You can also sit on a terrace to enjoy the view of the Jet d’eau.

    Opening times and dates

    • Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Thursday: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Friday: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Reservations

    Reservations are open for limited periods, in order to honor the intention of the project and make it possible for as many people as possible to discover La Banquise wellness area.

    A fun winter project

    Like the project at La Canopée, in place during the summer, La Banquise offers local residents the chance to meet up and make the most of sporting and well-being activities throughout the winter.
