Colouring a botanical drawing

Why not try your hand at colouring in a botanical illustration drawn from the treasures of the image library at the Botanical Conservatory and Gardens of the City of Geneva! This activity is organised as part of the “Vive nos arbres” project, aimed at promoting the heritage of Geneva’s trees.

  • a solid support if required (cardboard or clipboard)

How it works

Download the illustration of your choice from this page and print it out on white paper. Using colour pencils, add a splash of colour to the tree sample.

To discover its real colours, you can consult a photo of the tree in the image gallery below or search for its species data sheet in the “Discover our trees” section of this website.

Observing trees in situ

Look for the closest location of the chosen tree using the interactive map. Then go and observe it in situ.

For example, if the chosen tree is a chestnut tree, go to the Parc des Bastions or the Promenade de la Treille in April or May to observe its flowers.
