“Follement visuel - un automne en images avec Nicolas Bouvier”

In memory of Nicolas Bouvier, who left us 20 years ago, the Bibliothèque de Genève is offering an autumn in images in the company of the writer. For this event, the library is making its own wish come true of organising an original exhibition in the streets of Geneva, reproducing the subjects that the writer-cum-iconographer chose during his lifetime in the books found in the libraries he visited.

On 4 October, an evening in the Parc des Bastions will present this little-known facet of “Bouvier the iconographer”. The same evening will see the inauguration of the hanging entitled “Le voyage en images, journal photographique de L'Usage du monde”, which will be on show in the Couloir des coups d'oeil (1st floor of the library) from 5 October 2018 to 2 February 2019.

“Genève, c’est Géants” exhibition in the streets of Geneva

One year ago, for the very first time and with some considerable emotion, the streets of Geneva welcomed the Saga des Géants, a creation of the company Royal de Luxe.

For the occasion, the City of Geneva and the Instagram Users Association of Geneva – @iGersGeneva – organised a photo competition entitled “Genève, c’est Géants”. Accessible via Instagram using the hashtags #iGersGeants and #geantsgeneve, a large number of people participated by posting their photos. A jury then selected 23 winning images taken by 14 photographers.

To celebrate the anniversary of this event, the 23 photos selected will be showcased in the streets of Geneva until 10 October, sometimes scattered along the route taken by the Grandmother and the Little Giant. These images will offer passers-by the chance to relive some of the pleasure and magic of this three-day saga, thanks to the talent and work of the keen local photographers.
