This page presents a typical week for a young child attending a family nursery in the City of Geneva.
Related administrative procedures
Reception
The child spends the day at the home of the family nursery assistant according to a schedule agreed when enrolling, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The assistant takes the child to the family nursery between once and three times per week. The assistant can care for between two and four children in their home.
Pedagogical activities
A team of educators accompanies the assistants and organises pedagogical activities adapted to the age of the children. Organised at the nursery and at the assistant’s home, a wide range of activities is offered. Here are a few examples:
- creative activities;
- musical activities;
- movement activities;
- meetings (fun stimulation events, songs, stories, etc.);
These activities can be complemented by reading workshops, cooking workshops, free play or trips to the city’s parks, library, ludothèque, museums or markets. These outdoor activities also help the children to feel a sense of belonging in the life of their neighbourhood.
