School canteens and extracurricular supervision

The City of Geneva manages the school canteens in the schools located within the city limits.

The Groupement intercommunal pour l'animation parascolaire (GIAP) manages supervision of the children every morning, lunchtime and/or afternoon on school days through its extracurricular supervision programme.

Activities and events

In many of the city’s schools, the discovery workshops offer pupils the chance to participate in sporting and cultural activities free of charge during extracurricular periods. In those schools where these workshops are not available, mobile workshops have been launched.

The City of Geneva also offers groups of children enrolled in the extracurricular system the opportunity to take part in exploratory walks over lunchtime.

Thanks to the Préau Bulle project, pupils in the districts of les Grottes and les Cropettes can participate in fun and original activities from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on school days.
