In many of the city’s schools, the discovery workshops offer pupils the chance to participate in sporting and cultural activities free of charge during extracurricular periods. Organised and financed by the City of Geneva, these workshops are run by competent and recognised associations.
Circus, pottery, zumba, basketball, skateboarding, etc.: the choice is vast and each child should be able to find an activity to suit their tastes. The discovery workshops are open to pupils in years 2P to 8P in the following schools:
How does it work?
The discovery workshops are held from 23 September 2019 to 8 May 2020. They take place in the schools between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Registration and costs
To participate in the workshops, the pupils must first be registered for the workshop of their choice with the Groupement intercommunal pour l’animation parascolaire (GIAP). The cost of the workshops is borne by the City of Geneva, so parents will only have to pay the extra-curricular fees. A rewarding activity for the children at no extra cost to their parents!
The GIAP takes over supervision of the children when they leave class, offers them a snack and accompanies them to their workshop. At 6 p.m., the children are picked up by their parents in the extra-curricular room.
