Give unwanted clothes, bags, sheets and other fabrics a second life! Well-maintained textiles can still be worn and used second hand by recycling them.

Recoverable textiles

• men’s, women’s and children’s clothes that are clean, in good condition and still suitable to be worn;
• leather clothes and furs;
• shoes that are clean and in good condition (tied together in pairs);
• table linen, sheets and household linen;
• clean underwear and socks;
• belts and bags;
• quilts and pillows.

Clothes must be as clean as possible.

Non-recoverable waste

• non-textile materials;
• textiles and clothes that are dirty or in poor condition;
• fabric offcuts and left-overs, mattresses, padding, carpets, insulation materials;
• ski boots, ice skates, roller skates, rubber boots;
• odd shoes.

Textile collection points

In each district of the city, containers are installed to make it easy to recover used clothes, textiles and shoes. This collection system is organised by the Geneva textiles recovery coordination service comprising Caritas, the Centre social protestant (CSP), the Geneva Red Cross, Terre des Hommes and Emmaüs.

It is possible to click on each point to see the types of waste that are collected there (aluminium/tin plate, glass, PET, batteries, textiles or coffee capsules).

Collection times

• Monday to Saturday from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.;
• Sunday and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
