Transporting your bike on public transport

Bikes are accepted on public transport under certain conditions.

In certain situations, it is possible to travel with a bike on public transport. The City of Geneva emphasises certain rules to be respected to ensure the best possible cohabitation.

On buses

In Geneva, folding bikes which are not bulky and can be compared to hand luggage are accepted in all buses free of charge as long as they do not impede other passengers.

Non-folding bikes are accepted in TPG vehicles across the network on condition that there is sufficient space. Bikes being transported require an additional ticket. For Swiss Railways (CFF) half-price pass holders, the ticket for the bike is available at the reduced price.

On trains

Bikes can be transported on certain trains in Switzerland and Europe, subject to available space. A reservation may be necessary. You are advised to consult the CFF website before travelling.

On the boats of the CGN and the Mouettes genevoises

Bikes are not accepted on the Mouettes genevoises. They can, however, be transported on certain boasts of the Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le lac Léman (CGN).
