Developing a territorial food system

With ma-terre and the citizens and institutions active in the field of sustainable food, the aim is to implement a common food programme for our local territory.

The transition towards more sustainable food requires collaboration between everyone involved within in the territory,  «from farm to table». This also presupposes a contract – or at least stronger ties – between the agricultural sector and the population, between the rural world and the city.

To eat healthily while respecting the Earth and ensuring the people who feed us enjoy an appropriate income, it is becoming necessary to develop collective strategies bringing together public authorities, consumers, farmers, associations and the academic world. Within this in mind, the City of Geneva is represented on the committee of the association ma-terre – Maison de l’alimentation du territoire de Genève.
