The City of Geneva is committed to sustainable development. This is not restricted to an environmental viewpoint but also to several other aspects, in particular in the economic, cultural and social spheres. Equality and respect for diversity are thus essential conditions to ensure the development of a sustainable society.
It is against this backdrop that the City of Geneva defends and promotes the values of equality and diversity, both within its own administration and among the general public. The measures it has adopted to achieve this can be divided into three closely-linked aspects: cultural diversity and the fight against racism, gender equality and non-discrimination with regard to sexual orientation and gender identity.
The City of Geneva’s equality and diversity policy calls on all departments of the municipal administration and is coordinated by the Equality-Diversity unit of the Agenda 21-Sustainable city department in collaboration with the Human Resources Division.
