Recycling organic waste

This page provides useful information concerning sorting and recycling organic kitchen or garden waste in Geneva. It indicates the types of waste that can be recovered in the compostable bags provided for this purpose.

Important information concerning the situation of the new coronavirus: the city’s road cleaning service is adapting to the extraordinary health situation facing us at present as well as to the measures taken by the State Council and Administrative Council and the recommendations of the Federal Office of Public Health. The aim is to protect the health of the administration’s staff while maintaining all essential services. We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding.

Refuse collection via the door-to-door service and at the ecopoints is maintained in full and remains a key priority.
Similarly, cleaning of public areas is partially maintained, with approximately 50 percent of the personnel working in the field. Priority is given to emptying bins in the streets and cleaning the ecopoints.

Organic waste is collected during door-to-door rounds and at all eco-points.
