Here is a selection of monuments and sites close to the city centre (except the CERN) – just a part of the rich heritage of the City of Geneva.

Jet d'eau

Located at the very heart of the harbour area, the Jet d’eau is the emblem of the City of Geneva and its main tourist attraction. It is an integral part of the landscape and occupies a special place in the locals’ hearts.

The horloge fleurie

As emblematic of the city as the Jet d’eau and snapped by the cameras of the numerous tourists, the horloge fleurie is a perfect combination of clockmaking know-how and horticultural skill.

Monument Brunswick

Geneva's only mausoleum, made entirely of Carrara marble and Verona stone, this monument celebrates the memory of the Duke of Brunswick, the city's (unexpected) benefactor. Situated opposite the Jet d'Eau in the Jardin des Alpes, it enjoys an exceptional location.

Saint-Pierre Cathedral

An emblematic image of Geneva and a symbol of the influence of “Protestant Rome” overlooking the old town, Saint-Pierre Cathedral houses archaeological treasures dating from prehistoric times through to the Middle Ages.

The Reformation Wall

Built in the Parc des Bastions against the original city wall erected in the 16th century to protect the City of Geneva, the International Monument to the Reformation was constructed in 1909 to mark the 400th anniversary of Calvin’s birth and the 350th anniversary of the foundation of the Academy.

Place des Nations

The Place des Nations is the heart of international Geneva. It is the site of the Broken Chair, created by the Geneva-based artist Daniel Berset and a symbol of the fight against anti-personnel mines.

Marronnier de la Treille

Every year, the first bud of the Republic's official chestnut tree heralds the arrival of spring in Geneva.

CERN

The CERN is one of the most prestigious nuclear physics laboratories in the world. It is also the birthplace of the web.

Bains des Pâquis

The Pâquis public baths offer a place to relax on the right bank of the lake, in the centre of Geneva.

Public clock “What time is it?”

Donated to the City of Geneva by Ms Nelly Monéger-Glayre, the public clock is installed on the awning of the main entrance to the Uni-Dufour building.
