Every summer, CinéTransat (in French) sets out its deckchairs in the magnificent setting of the Perle du Lac. The programme includes free screenings of great films under the stars, giant karaokes, themed evenings and short films.

Since 2014, the Geneva Lux Festival, organised in the public areas of the city centre, has presented works of art made of light, created and staged specifically for Geneva by artists from Switzerland and abroad.

Every year at the beginning of December, the Parc des Bastions hosts a Christmas market organised by and for children.
Fête de l’Escalade | 12 December
A sort of carnival in Geneva, the Fête de l’Escalade is a mixture of tradition, humour and official commemoration. Costumes, chocolate pots and renditions of the Cé qu'è lainô are all part of this festival that brings the different generations together.
New Year’s Eve and the Réveillon de la solidarité | 31 December
The City of Geneva invites the population to welcome the New Year together. The programme generally includes concerts and firework displays in public areas. At the same time, the Plainpalais community centre hosts the Réveillon de la solidarité, offering deprived or lonely people a little light and warmth.
Black Movie Festival | January
For ten days at the start of every year, the Black Movie film festival serves up a selection of films by acknowledged or emerging talents from all backgrounds around the world, firmly rooted in the contemporary world. One section of the festival is dedicated to young viewers: the Petit Black Movie.
Antigel Festival | January

The annual presentation of the Martin Ennals Award to a person who actively defends human rights helps to make the general public aware of the all too numerous attacks suffered by civilians in times of war, political prisoners and other victims of injustice.
