A new “chalet” on Place des Augustins

After seven months of refurbishment work, the new Place des Augustins was inaugurated in April 2021. Covered in concrete and somewhat dilapidated, it has been transformed into an urban square with plants, embellished with a fountain.

New trees and shrubberies have been planted around the square.

Call for projects

To make the square a more happening place and ensure the inhabitants feel at home here, the City of Geneva issued a call for projects to make a going concern of the kiosk, creating a vibrant and open atmosphere that brings the square to life on a regular basis.

Mathias Geuther convinced the members of the jury with his “ça va l’chalet?” concept. The Geuther brothers, Mathias and Yannick, are no strangers to the catering sector, as they already own Shiso Burger. They nevertheless wanted to take up a new challenge by creating a more personal concept. “We want to bring a new dynamic to the place and work with local young producers while offering products at attractive prices,” declares Mathias. They came up with the name of their concept because “this kiosk represents a modern chalet”.

They then decided to promote a traditional speciality linked to the culture of our country – raclette. This is available in its traditional form and as a panini – absolutely delicious.

You can also enjoy salads, sharing platters, home-made cold “Alpine tea”, mulled wine, seasonal tarts, beer and wine. All products are sourced from local, organic craft production, and the menu will change according to the seasons.

A system of deposits will be introduced for plates and containers for the different products in order to implement a zero waste policy.
