In light of the weather forecast for the coming days, the City of Geneva has decided to activate its “cold weather plan” from the evening of Friday 19 January 2024 for a period of at least three nights.

The opening of a new Civil Defence shelter provides 80 additional places, bringing the total number of places available in the City’s facilities, and those of its associative partners subsidised by the City and by the Association of the Municipalities of Geneva, to 581.
The emergency shelter measure ensures that all individuals within the municipality have access to emergency shelter. Admissions will be organised via the emergency shelter hotline on the toll-free number 0800 22 22 10.
The Civil Defence shelter in the Champel district can host 80 people, adding to the 80 places available at the Richemont Civil Defence shelter. The shelters are open from 6.15 p.m. to 8.15 a.m. Furthermore, 100 hotel places are available, with reception open around the clock. The other places are managed by the subsidised associations, bringing the total number of places available to 581.

People looking for shelter, the network partners and members of public concerned by the situation of a person living on the street are asked to call the City of Geneva’s emergency shelter hotline using the toll-free number 0800 22 22 10 from 8.45 a.m. to midday and from 12.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from midday to 5 p.m. at weekends.
