Workshop

physical venue

Human beings cannot live without stories, let alone characters. That's why, in my view, novel writing is a vital component of the human condition. We're talking about it, and it alone.

Portrait de Metin Arditi

Writing is storytelling. You imagine a plot, you create your characters, you see them, who live, think, act, love, betray, you listen to them, patiently, until they reveal themselves, and then you tell their story.
In this workshop, Metin Arditi shares what he considers to be the basic rules of novel writing. In his company, each participant shares the plot of a short story he or she has come up with. He or she reads it, and discusses it with the group. The next day, the exercise is repeated. Each participant will have taken advantage of the evening and/or morning to fine-tune his or her script, and perhaps even start writing.
