Renting business premises

Who is this procedure intended for?

This procedure is intended for any person interested in renting business premises belonging to the City of Geneva.

The detailed rental conditions for business premises and the allocation criteria are stipulated by the regulation shown below.

Which documents are required?

Your application must be accompanied by all the following documents:

• copy of an ID document and/or excerpt from the commercial register (legal entities);
• certificate of solvency (last tax declaration, balance sheet and PP);
• certificate from the prosecutions office;
• type of activity envisaged and financial plan.

How will your application be processed?

Allocation of business premises is based on:

• the solvency of the tenant;
• occupancy of the premises;
• the profitability of the business.

The request is valid for one year. Our services will contact you directly when we are in a position to offer you the premises requested.

In the event of a positive response, an investigation of commercial use is conducted. The tenant receives a rental offer to be returned duly signed and marked “bon pour accord”. Before signing the lease, the customer must pay the first term’s rent (by EC Direct card, payment slip with reference number (BVR) or in cash).

The tenants must present themselves at the counter of the Customer Relations Unit to sign the lease and schedule the initial inventory inspection and handling over of the keys. A security deposit totalling six months’ rent is required when signing the lease.

Generally, the tenant signs a lease for a maximum duration of 5 years.
