From 27 June to 1 July 2023, an original multidisciplinary show, a “Ballade des Reines”, will be organised at 7 p.m. in the Cimetière des Rois. A total of 12 artistic tableaux by female artists pay tribute to women, some well known and some less so, whose final resting place is this cemetery. An unprecedented event organised by the Collectif des In-Visibles, with the support of the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity.
At the Cimetière des Rois, music performances with piano and song as well as dance, theatre, circus and different interventions are on the programme to pay tribute to the women buried in the Geneva pantheon.
Contemporary artists will thus create ties with writers, artists and painters of different nationalities who have left their mark on the local or international scene.
Tributes will be paid, for example, to the famous Swiss writer Alice Rivaz, the essential Swedish-Swiss sculptor and painter Natascha de Senger and the remarkable Argentine dancer, choreographer and educator Noemi Lapzeson.

Shedding light on the lives of women who have been left in the shadows
This “Ballade des Reines" in such a singular setting helps shed light on the lives of women who have been relegated to the shadows over time while bearing witness to the fact that, even today, it is still important to highlight their contributions. This event, driven by female artists, demonstrates a much-needed solidarity.
