As the birthplace of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), the Ariana Museum is joining the festivities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the IAC by presenting three new exhibitions: Migration(s), Connexions and Vocation. Open until 19 March 2023.
Migration(s)
Responding to the competition launched by the museum, the 33 ceramic artists, all members of the IAC, selected by a jury present a work specially created for the exhibition. In parallel to the “Melting Pot” theme of the 50th Congress of the IAC, the Ariana Museum has adopted this theme with Migration(s), offering ample scope for numerous interpretations: the movement of individuals or populations, shared visions and experiences and techniques linked to ceramics.
Connexions, 50 years of donations
From the 1960s to the present day, the Ariana has received almost 600 donations from member artists. Recipients, sculptures and installations from around the globe, these select items create a ceramic map at the crossroads of craftsmanship and formal freedom, tradition and innovation.
Vocation
Sponsored by the IAC, this exhibition retraces its unusual journey. Founded at the end of the Second World War, the IAC set itself the task of promoting artistic ceramics, contributing to cultural dialogue and sowing the seeds of better understanding between peoples. A fascinating history explored chronologically through the twelve showcases of the Ariana Museum.
