The history of the Clarté building, designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, is told in pictures at Geneva Library. An exhibition open until 14 September 2024.
The Immeuble Clarté is the only building that bears witness to the ties between Le Corbusier and Geneva. Despite being inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and cited as a key example of modernist architecture, it is still relatively unknown among the residents of Geneva.
The innovative nature of the Clarté building makes it a firm favourite with photographers. Now archived by Geneva Library, their pictures retrace the visual history of the building, from its original design in the 1930s to the renovations of the 1970s and again in 2010, as well as the changes observed in the Villereuse neighbourhood.
A rich programme of visits accompanies the exhibition
The programme includes guided visits of the exhibition at the Library, on-site visits to the Clarté building and a visit to the visual archives of the Iconography Centre.
