“The festival has become an important event in bringing Geneva to life during the winter, attracting visitors not only from Geneva and the surrounding region but also an increasing number of tourists,” stresses Marie Barbey-Chappuis, Executive Councillor of the City of Geneva.

To mark this anniversary edition, Geneva Lux will present some fifteen new works of art.

Artistic performances

Every weekend, the public will also be able to enjoy artistic performances in the evening. Radiance, a colourful hologram, will take shape on the lake, thanks to a screen made of water. During the weekend of 19-21 January, visitors will be able to see Dundu, a friendly light giant, in the Jardin Anglais as well as in front of the Bains des Pâquis and the “Maison de l’enfance et de l’adolescence” children’s hospital. Aka, a giant marionette, will take a walk in the Jardin Anglais and along Quai du Mont-Blanc during the weekend of 26-27 January. Finally, La Baleine will float above the waterfront on 2 and 3 February.

For the exact performance times, please consult the festival website.

New creations

Among the creations waiting to be discovered this year are: Song Bird, the nightingales created by Ukrainian artist Svitlana Reinish (near the Genève paddle steamer and the Bains des Pâquis), and Diva, a gigantic character sitting in the middle of the Jardin Anglais, dreamed up by Thomas Voillaume and Jérémy Oury. Located on Quai du Mont-Blanc, Omen is an immersive work, a circle of light that the public can cross…

Refreshments bar and information centre

An information centre with refreshments bar is once again located on the Quai du Mont-Blanc (opposite the Hôtel d’Angleterre) this year, providing useful information about the festival and serving hot drinks.

Guided tours

As it does every year, Geneva Tourism is offering guided tours of the works. The complete festival programme, a map, details of the works, dates of the tours organised by Geneva Tourism and photos are available in the Press kit” on the event’s website: www.genevalux.ch
