Our tip
Where to buy local food and drinks in Geneva
The City of Geneva has a rich tradition with the Semaine du Goût, as it has played an active role in the event for many years as part of its programme supporting sustainable food and local agriculture.
This action not only acknowledges those restaurants committed to healthy eating, but also helps promote dietary diversity as well as high-quality regional craft products within the catering sector.
More broadly speaking, the City of Geneva works in close collaboration with the canton and the associations to bring city-dwellers closer to the countryside while promoting sustainable food and urban agriculture. Throughout the years, it has developed a genuine public policy in this field entitled “Feed the City”.
A long-standing commitment
This choice is reward for its long-standing commitment, and Geneva will be proud to be the flag bearer of Taste throughout 2021.
A steering committee is already working hard to develop an ambitious programme focussing on such crucial issues as educating people’s palates, ensuring the broadest possible access to high-quality, healthy food and exploring the link between food and climate. The issues of promoting local products, attachment to the territory and the local economy will also represent a common thread of key elements throughout the year.
The partners who will help implement this outstanding project include Genève Terroir (OPAGE), Genève Tourisme, the State of Geneva, MA-Terre and all the associations and umbrella organisations linked to food and agriculture.
More information will be made available in the near future. In the meantime, you can find all the City of Geneva’s actions relating to taste at "Feed the City".
