On Saturday 23 September 2023, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Musée Ariana will celebrate three anniversaries in one fell swoop: 140 years since the opening of the Musée Ariana, 30 years since the museum re-opened its doors following major renovation work and the launch of new facilities this year.
A special day, hosted by keen historians, will offer you the opportunity to explore the Musée Ariana and its myriad stories. Architectural walks, workshops and a chance to visit the reference exhibitions. A varied range of activities rounded off with an anniversary teatime at 4.15 p.m. in the grand hall of the museum.
An ever-changing heritage: 1883-1993-2023
In 1883, the museum opened the doors of its very first hall to the public. Thirty years ago – on 16 September 1993 – the museum re-opened its doors following major renovation work and in 2023, the new themed rooms now provide surprising narratives focussing on our collections while new indoor facilities will lend a contemporary flavour to this stunning setting while showcasing its exceptional architecture.
