From Saturday 4 November until 3 March 2024, les Vernets will once again welcome the public to its two ice rinks. For anyone looking forward to gliding, twirling, skidding or hitting a puck, the new skating season is ready to go after several months’ work.
In May 2023, major work was launched to ensure the conformity of the two ice rinks in les Vernets. The work will be divided into three phases with completion scheduled for autumn 2025.
Delaying the opening to the public until Saturday 4 November 2023 (instead of the usual time of October) allowed the following work to be completed in order to welcome skaters in the best possible conditions:
- conformity upgrade to the cold production installation;
- partial renovation of the two ice rinks, in particular with a new foundation for the outdoor ice rink;
- installation of a new rink around the outdoor ice rink;
- installation of solar panels on the roof of the outdoor ice rink.
The work will begin again when the ice rinks close in spring 2024.

To limit the waiting time at the cash desks, you are advised to purchase tickets or passes online.
The skating season will include several events that are not to be missed for any reason:
- La Fête de la glace on 5 November
- The Discos sur glace on 11 November, 16 December, 26 December, 13 January and 10 February
Moreover, the City of Geneva also invites the public to visit les Bastions seasonal ice rink.
