Arias, duets and melodies from the great Italian and French lyrical repertoire

Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak met as the lead roles in a production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at Covent Garden. A few years later, in a production of the same work at the Paris Opera, they have now decided to form a glamorous couple both on stage and in the city, captivating audiences around the world.
Since his debut as Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata (1988 at Glyndebourne Touring Opera), French tenor Roberto Alagna has performed just about every key tenor role in the operas of Verdi, Donizetti, Gounod, Massenet and Puccini on the world’s greatest opera stages. He has won the hearts of a very large audience with his recordings of popular songs and his appearances on television.
Aleksandra Kurzak started out as a coloratura soprano, but nowadays she sings mainly verismo and late 19th century repertoire. For their first album together, in 2018, they chose Puccini’s love duets: a repertoire in Alagna’s DNA, who has always sung it, in which the great tragedienne of the bel canto and verismo repertoire that is his wife joins him quite naturally. In concert, they marry their two timbres with finesse and accuracy and express a musical generosity that can only arouse enthusiasm.
