This year’s New Year’s Eve party will take place on Quai Gustave-Ador. Concerts, DJs, bars and food trucks as well as a grand firework display will all be part of the free festivities awaiting the public to welcome in the New Year in style.
As the Christmas market was moved to Quai du Mont-Blanc in order to protect the trees and plants in the Jardin Anglais, the New Year’s festivities will take place on Quai Gustave-Ador.
From 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., music will take pride of place on two stages hosting a range of eclectic performances.
A varied music programme
Dreamed up by Nelson Schaer, Artistic Director of the Ella Fitzgerald stage, the programme is both specialised and suitable for all. It will give pride of place to artists from Geneva and western Switzerland, with a number of eclectic DJs and three magnificent orchestras.
“Jet d’Eau” stage
DJs will lead the way on the “Jet d’eau” stage. Lady Black Sally, Flowerz, Zebra, Mulah, NVST and Santo will each perform in turn.
“Plage” stage
The large “Plage” stage, in front of Baby-Plage, will primarily host live music. Artmaillé will set the tone before the main concert by Sarcophage 1994, bringing together former stars of local and Swiss rap. This will be followed by the amazing techno band, O.U.M.P.H, the sparkling cumbia group, Palenque, and the renowned afromaghreb DJ, Pekodjinn.
Bars and food trucks
Three bars by the lake will help keep everyone’s thirst at bay, courtesy of two of Geneva’s cultural associations:
- Kalvingrad,
- Bongo Joe.
As for food, 18 food trucks will be serving up savoury and sweet treats throughout the evening.
Prevention and awareness
To ensure that this remains a festive and safe moment for everyone concerned, three associations – all active in the field of the prevention of addictions, of the consumption of psychotropic substances and of sexist and gender-based violence in festive environments – will be present in the “Prevention stands” zone with awareness material intended for the public:
- CarrefourAddictions
- Nuit Blanche: prevention of the consumption of psychotropic substances
- We Can Dance: prevention of sexist and gender-based violence in festive environments
The organisation and security teams have followed awareness courses relating to sexist and gender-based violence and will take every measure necessary to react quickly in the event of sexist and gender-based harassment at the event site. The New Year’s Eve party will serve as a pilot event within the framework of the “Zero sexism at our events” project, coordinated by the Agenda 21 –Sustainable City Department and in collaboration with the organising teams.
Disruptions to traffic and parking
To ensure the public’s safety, Quai Gustave-Ador will be entirely closed between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. Pont and Quai du Mont-Blanc as well as Quai Wilson will be closed between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.
